Students from Lodge Park Academy have been praised for collectively obtaining one of the academy’s best set of results “in a generation”.
Nigel Whittle, Director of Education for the David Ross Education Trust of which the academy is part of, praised staff and students for their remarkable achievement.
“In every measure that that the academy is set to monitor students’ progress and achievement, Lodge Park Academy has raised the bar.
“There have been increases in the average points students have obtained, the average grade achieved in each exam and the percentage of students reaching the academic threshold.
“This is on the back of a very strong set of results last year, where more students than ever before got to their first choice universities and colleges.
“The Class of 2015 can rightly hold their heads up high knowing that they have achieved the best set of results the school has had in a generation.”
Among the smiling faces were Sarah Caldwell, Chelsea Clements, George McKillop and Sian Frowen who between them achieved fourteen A*, As or distinctions.
Chelsea Clements, who will be heading to the University of Northampton, said “This is amazing. I worked really hard and it has really paid off. I will now be heading off to do fashion design – I am over the moon.”
George McKillop is heading to Leeds to study English. “I am speechless. This has gone brilliantly.”
Alison Hayes, Principal, said: “I am particularly pleased that no matter what the passions and interests of our students are, they are able to succeed at this academy.
“Whether it be English Literature, Science or the Arts there have been some outstanding successes, with each department seeing people heading off to the top universities and colleges.
“It is a huge congratulations and well done to all our staff and students.”
The David Ross Education Trust Summer Cup 2014 was a fantastic day. A dozen elite athletes, including Dame Kelly Holmes, 1500 pupils and students, a full stadium – no wonder Sky Sports News described it as the “best school sports day in the country”.
Formula One World Champion officially opened Lodge Park Academy in May 2013. His visit is a reflection of the academy’s specialisms for technology and sport. For more information visit http://www.lodgeparkacademy.co.uk
